Questions and answers
The steel trimmer fits most major brands of powered brushcutters. It is important to check that you can mount accessories with a center hole of Ø25mm for the steel trimmer to fit.
If you have a clearing saw adapted for accessories with a center hole of Ø20mm, a spacer from 20 to 25mm is needed. Most Stihl machines have Ø20mm.
You can buy our spacer here
If you have a battery-powered grass trimmer with a plastic thread holder and no screw, you unfortunately cannot install the Steel Trimmer
The steel trimmer is available in both sizes Ø15cm & Ø20cm in diameter.
The delivery includes only the Steel Trimmer , i.e. the steel brush itself.
We are sometimes asked if the shaft is included. The "shaft" is a clearing saw that is required to spin the Steel Trimmer.
The clearing saw needs to have a screw at the bottom to be able to mount the Steel Trimmer.
If you only have a plastic thread holder, you unfortunately cannot mount the Steel Trimmer on that machine.
Clearing saw is not included in Leversansen.
Recommendation for Optimal Use of the Steel Trimmer
To extend the life and maximize the efficiency of your Steel Trimmer, it is important to avoid applying unnecessary force to the surface. Here are some valuable tips:
- Avoid too hard pressure against the substrate: Do not press too hard against the substrate when using the Steel Trimmer. When you apply excessive pressure, the Steel Trimmer wears much faster against the substrate that you do not want to remove.
- Focus on the weeds: Focus instead on that
- use light and controlled pressure against the weed to avoid unnecessary wear. It is the weeds that must be cleared, not the substrate.
- Long-term durability: The product is robust and designed to handle weeds and smaller roots. Avoiding excessive pressure against hard surfaces is key to its long-term durability. By using the Steel Trimmer with the above recommendations, you will notice that it lasts significantly longer and continues to deliver high performance weed control.
- Patience pays off: Using the Steel Trimmer with light pressure and carefully trimming the weeds may take a bit more time, but it definitely pays off in the long run. Your Steel Trimmer will last several times longer for the same surface, and you will avoid wearing it down unnecessarily by pressing too hard against unwanted surfaces. It is the best way to long lasting performance and effective weed control.
We see some of this concern in the comment field on Social Media.
We have done many tests where we clear weeds and the horse walks with a strong magnet and sweeps the area to see if wire has come off and it has not.
The steel wires wear down and leave no more than small dust particles that are not visible, and we have also not seen that dust after the steel trimmer contributed to any surface rust formation.
Should threads come loose, it is a defective product that should not be used but advertised so you get a new working product. Of course completely free of charge!
